From capability to practice
A different towing system requires shared understanding
The CRT changes where and how towline force can be applied. Training gives tug masters, towmasters, pilots and project teams a controlled setting in which to understand that capability, coordinate decisions and rehearse demanding operations.

A high-fidelity digital CRT operating environment
Launched by Novatug and Multraship in 2026, the Wärtsilä-based centre combines full-mission simulation, mixed reality, project simulation and customised digital vessel models.
A high-fidelity digital model of the Carrousel Rave Tug supports tailored manoeuvring, towage and vessel-handling scenarios. Several participants can operate different vessels inside one shared scenario and coordinate in real time.

The instructor environment connects bridge teams, vessel models and scenario conditions. This allows trainers to introduce difficult situations that would be impractical to reproduce safely during normal operations.
Physical ship-handling environment
Manned-model training at Port Revel
Port Revel in France includes a Carrousel Rave Tug in its scale-model fleet. Maritime pilots work aboard manned ship models while a professional tug master operates the radio-controlled CRT model in response to the pilot’s instructions.
The physical environment makes tow geometry, hydrodynamic effects and ship-tug coordination directly observable on the water. Port Revel is an independent training centre and manages its own courses and availability.
