Hydrostatic balancing is the management of liquid transfer or tank condition to keep vessel trim, heel, and stability within safe limits as loading or flooding changes.
Why it matters
For small workboats and tugs, poor hydrostatic balance can sharply reduce stability margin and amplify the effect of free surface or downflooding.
