Electronic chart system grounding-avoidance configuration

This concept page covers cases where a charted grounding hazard existed in the navigation system, but display settings, user configuration, or operator understanding prevented the hazard from being recognized in time.

Why it matters

The Cingluku/Jungjuk report shows a modern but subtle version of grounding risk. The rock that the ATB struck was charted, but the crew did not effectively use the ECS features that would have made the danger more conspicuous or generated obstacle alerts. That makes this concept important for later comparison with ECDIS and ECS-related groundings in the wider corpus.
